2018 Winner
Sara Burdette
Douglas MacArthur Girls’ Leadership Academy
Pre-Kindergarten
“Ms. Burdette radiates positivity. This positive attitude and enthusiasm for education rubs off on the other members of our staff. I can’t think of a better person to greet students and their families as they enter the building.”
Sara Burdette graduated from Wittenberg University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and secondary in Behavioral Sciences. She is certified to teach preK, kindergarten, and grades 1-8. She received her Master’s Degree from Cleveland State University in 2001. Sara has spent the last 22 years serving the children and families of Cleveland. She has had experiences teaching all grades in her area of certification, but when she took the call to teach PreK, she fell in love with the age level and became passionate about early childhood education. She is excited to be able to give children and parents their first school experience and equip them with the skills needed for the rest of their academic careers. Her philosophy is to love her students as if they are her own. Love: it is a word that is heard repeatedly and always felt in her classroom. This love is also shared with her husband Chris, sons Jacob and Connor, and her four-legged daughter, Zoey.
