Lisa Swet

Marion C. Seltzer

Kindergarten–8th Grade English as a Second Language

“Ms. Swet’s support for all students begins with high expectations, which is demonstrated through her data. She can often be heard calling her class a ‘family’ because they hold each other accountable and cheer each other on.”

Lisa Swet began her teaching career with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in 1991. She currently teaches English as a Second Language in grades K–8 at Marion C. Seltzer School. Her first 11 years with the district were as a first grade teacher. Lisa has spent the last 16 years working as a TESOL classroom teacher in the Multilingual Multicultural program and is a proud advocate for students who are English Language Leaners. For the last four summers, Lisa has taught at the International Newcomers Academy as part of the district’s Elementary Summer Reading Academy. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Ohio University and a Master of Arts in TESOL and Bilingual Education from The University of Findlay. Outside of her classroom, Lisa has created and organized an after-school homework club, helped procure donations for Seltzer’s student pantry, and is a volunteer for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank School Market Program.
