Angelina Kinney has been teaching for seven years in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. She currently teaches 5th grade at Douglas MacArthur Girls Leadership Academy, where she completed her student teaching during her studies for her bachelor’s degree in education from Baldwin Wallace University. Angelina believes that reaching scholars and getting them to “want” to learn begins with love and care. She shows these attributes by getting to know her students and participating in programs that support her students’ interests. She believes that mistakes are part of the learning process. When students recognizes their own mistakes, they grow to be successful leaders. Her daily motto is, “Tomorrow is a new day, which means a new chance to become a new and better me!” Angelina has found her passion and success in creating and implementing lessons that are full of fun and have her scholars learning without even realizing it.  She pours her heart into transforming her classroom into “real life” learning scenarios where her scholars gain knowledge, work successfully with peers, and close gaps that students try to hide. Angelina loves to give her time to her scholars outside the classroom. She participates in the Disney Musical in Schools program and the We Run This City 5K running program. Angelina hosts an annual family fundraising event to take her 5th grade students to a three-day overnight camping trip where she creates memories with her students that last a lifetime.
